SO, it's been over 3 years since I've blogged, woops! If you follow me on facebook at all, you might have noticed I've been lacking in the new hat posting department. I've been super busy tending to my new chickens, canning billions of pounds of fruit, actually reading books, and something super cool....planning workshops! YEP! I'll still be making hats, of course, but I will also now be teaching! If you go to my
website, you'll see all of my workshop descriptions and the schedule that is changing all the time. I'm pretty stoked for some of these! I'll be in Connecticut in March and Maryland in May! I've never been to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival and am pretty excited to finally get to that. I won't be vending ( well not totally), but I will be teaching at the lovely Arlene's (Spin Artiste) new studio.
OOOO....so World Wide Spin in Public Day is coming up Sept. 21st! I'll be spinning yarn at the new
Opulent Fibers studio and will be available for free spinning help, advice, critiques, and just for some company! That Sunday (the 22nd), I'll be doing a freeform crochet headband/neck wrap workshop for $45 for those interested. The link to Opulent Fibers says my workshop is the 7th and 8th, but it's really just the 22nd. We changed it :)
As for what I'll be teaching at various places, I'm doing lots of different combos. Some consist of spinning art yarn that will turn into a freeform crochet headband and/or neck wrap. I'll also have just freeform crochet classes as well for those that don't spin yarn. I'm trying to make it so it's not a giant pain in the butt for most people. When I teach in Maryland, it will be one day of workshops. This will allow people to take one or two classes and not have to drive back and forth a bunch or get a hotel room. The goal is to get people to want to freeform! it's amazing how many people are seriously nervous to do it! I find it's very freeing and liberating to break away from the pattern and not worry about making mistakes.
I'm not even going to proof read this post....so I hope it makes sense and I didn't confuse anyone! So yeah, check out my workshop schedule for details and stay tuned for more details later on!
